Garbage Pail Kids Brand New Series 1 Almost Here...
The date is almost upon us. Topps Garbage Pail Kids Brand New Series 1 is set to release 10/10/12, just a few days away. Excitement is starting to build towards release. Do you have your boxes/cases on order already? Or are you waiting for Target/Wal-Mart to stock these? Regardless, read below for a quick FAQ on what to expect with the new release.
Is BNS 1 really releasing 10/10?
A few different dates have been bantered about online since Topps began releasing info on the product. I'm hearing that 10/10 is still the date. Of course this hasn't stopped Topps from delaying a product before. We will know for sure shortly.
When can I expect to see BNS 1 in the wild?
If 10/10 is indeed the release date as soon as this weekend. Some Targets/Wal-Marts around the country begin stocking Topps products a few days prior to the release date. Unless you have an "in" with a distributor don't expect to get Hobby boxes before release day. Topps frowns upon that sort of thing and most distributors don't want to get their hands slapped. If your local hobby store carries GPK expect to see them on shelves Wednesday.
Whats different in BNS 1?
While Green, Silver, and Gold parallels are back, gone are the Pink parallels found in the Flashbacks sets. Instead there will be a Black border parallel found only in Hobby boxes. Also new this time around is a Mix & Match Insert Set. The idea here is you take the body part stickers and make your own GPK on the back of the card. Topps will also be inserting "Golden Tickets" for a chance to become a GPK in the next series!
Should I buy Hobby or Retail boxes?
I think Hobby is the way to go here. Hobby will be the only place to get the Black Border parallels mentioned above. Printing Plates are also a Hobby exclusive this year. In addition the sell sheet Topps released shows 8 exclusive Bonus Cards that will only be found in Hobby boxes. Hobby boxes are going for about $10 more currently than Retail.
I still haven't pre-order any yet, help me find some!
Ok not a problem. There are a few places online that are still offering pre-orders. Blowout cards has boxes at $47.95 and cases for $354.95. Toywiz also has boxes for $49.99. Plus there's always eBay. Right now Hobby boxes are going for between $50 and $60 each. Word of warning, know your seller! Do some homework and buy from a reputable seller. Personally, I highly recommend Blowout cards.
Ok how about some info on BNS Series 2?
Whoa now, slow down....let's let BNS 1 release first before we jump into that.....
If you happen to see BNS 1 on the store shelves this weekend, let us know! Would love to get some picts and pack odds...
